Workshop Training of Trainers (ToT) on Reducing Self-Stigma and Discrimination

NEP+ successfully conducted a three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop focused on reducing self-stigma and discrimination among people living with and affected by HIV. The training was held from September 30 to October 2, 2025, bringing together community leaders, peer educators, and representatives from member associations across the country.

The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge, skills, and confidence to address internalized stigma, promote self-acceptance, and support community-level intervention efforts. Through interactive sessions, group exercises, and practical tools, trainees explored:

  • Understanding the roots and impact of self-stigma

  • Psychological and social consequences of internalized discrimination

  • Techniques for building self-esteem and empowerment

  • Effective communication strategies to challenge stigma

  • Approaches for community dialogue and peer-led support

  • Practical methods for cascading the training to local networks

Participants also discussed real-life scenarios, shared experiences, and collaborated on problem-solving activities that highlighted the importance of building supportive environments for people living with HIV.

At the end of the workshop, trainees expressed their commitment to replicate the training within their respective associations and communities, ensuring wider reach and sustainable change. The ToT is expected to contribute significantly to ongoing national efforts to reduce stigma, improve mental well-being, and strengthen community resilience.

NEP+ extends its appreciation to all facilitators, partners, and participants who contributed to the success of this important training.
